This
is one of three houses the Jarrell's built for themselves.
Built in 1847, it's surprisingly large and sophisticated. Their
second house was built in 1895, and the third in 1920. The
1920 house now operates as a B & B. |
One
of the Jarrell's secrets to success was diversification.
This photo shows some of their buildings for ginning cotton,
sawing lumber, milling grain, and making cane syrup -- all
of these were profit centers. |
